January 18, 2006
LG Innotek is said to be focusing on sales of automobile electronic components starting in 2006. To enter this market, the company developed several products in 2005, including medium-sized LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) modules for navigation, DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) tuners, WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) modules, automobile BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) motors, and LED (Light Emitting Diodes) for rear lights. Among these components, automobile LCD modules were produced in its Gumi LCD module line in Korea, with the remainder in its Gwangju plant. LG Innotek has also doubled the research base of its automobile electronic component business to a staff of 300, hoping to achieve the sales goal of 400 billion won in 2006, up 40% annually.
